The Borough of Emmaus operates a lawn and garden waste composting facility at Klines Lane and Minor Streets for use by Macungie Borough individuals free of charge.

Facility closes at dark after time change.
CLOSED ON HOLIDAYS
The following items will be accepted in the condition as described:
Leaves/leafy stems/grass and grass clippings: Brought in reusable container(s) and emptied on the pile as indicated. Grass and Leaves may be mixed.
Woody branches up to 3" in diameter: Reduced to lengths not exceeding 6', placed in/on the pile as indicated.
Firewood logs from freshly cut trees: From 3" diameter up to 24" diameter. Cut in 20" lengths. All limbs and branches must be cut off.
It is important to keep items separated as indicated in order to reduce the time required in handling the materials.
THIS IS NOT A "DUMP." Any material (organic yard waste only) brought to the site must be in the condition described. Any materials brought to the site other than those listed (lumber, root balls with dirt, garbage, dirt, building materials, etc) or any other trash brought to the site will be considered litter and those persons littering will be prosecuted.
We request the cooperation of all participants and remind everyone plastic bags or any other foreign materials are not to be included with the yard waste. Failure to follow any of the above mentioned instructions or the instructions of the site attendant may result in the forfeiture of one's privileges. If you observe any violations, please obtain license plate number and report the incident to 610-965-9288. Your report will remain anonymous.
Unscreened compost and wood mulch is available for a loading fee of $5/$20/$30 per Pick-up/Trailer, single Axle Dump or Larger truck respectively. A full scoop of compost weighs approximately 2 tons. Loading is available on Mondays & Wednesdays after 3 pm and on Saturdays from 8 am to 4 pm.
Screened compost is available to Emmaus residents only.
